Adaptability is the most important skill in business today – both for individuals and for organizations.

Adaptable people make decisions 2.5x faster, making them radically more successful with innovation, successful in promotions, and more productive.

Adaptable people are also 50% healthier, more engaged, less stressed, less likely to suffer mental health challenges and more likely to find effective coping strategies. Adaptability, on its own, reduces burnout by MORE than half.

More adaptable companies win a third more market share over less agile competitors (Accenture) and are a third more likely to introduce new products or services (PwC) and 70% less likely to lose customers (KPMG). They have a 50% lower turnover rate (Gallup) and a 3x lower bankrupty rate (University of Illinois).

And yet according to the Business Agility Institute, 71% of organizations today have low business agility. 63% of CEOs say they can’t find adaptable talent (PWC), and a nearly equal number of employees agree they are not adaptable.

LinkedIn VP Aneesh Raman explains more in this Microsoft Worklab podcast. “The skills needed to do your job will change 65 percent by 2030,” he points out. “That’s basically a new job. Adaptability is the best way to have agency right now.”
