Background
The BoardWalk is a initiative that has been created to nurture the development aspiring directors who are currently in senior management positions and help them to unlock their future potential. It aims to expose these individuals to existing directors (both executive and non-executive) and partners during an interactive networking session that will encourage meaningful engagement and dialogue.
Is net zero by 2050 possible in SA and if so, is it socio-economically viable?
The National Business Initiative (NBI), in partnership with Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) undertook a project to collectively develop a view of what the decarbonization pathways could look like for the South African economy together with the South African private sector and other relevant stakeholders from government, labour and civil society. This body of work has shown that it is indeed possible to reach a net zero emissions economy by 2050 if we start now, and that it could be net jobs positive and position our economy as future fit. I will share some of the key outcomes of this work.
