Sethomo Lelatisitswe is a distinguished figure with a multifaceted career spanning healthcare, strategic management, and policy development. Armed with a Degree in Commerce (Strategic Supply Management) from the University of South Africa and a Diploma in Pharmacy Technology from the Gaborone Health Institute of Health Sciences in Botswana, Lelatisitswe began his professional journey as a dedicated Pharmacy Technologist.

During his tenure in hospital pharmacies, particularly at esteemed institutions like Jwaneng and Orapa Mines, he demonstrated exemplary skills in drug management, eventually rising to the position of Senior Pharmacy Technologist. In this role, he not only excelled in his responsibilities but also mentored young professionals, ensuring they received up-to-date training aligned with industry standards.

Lelatisitswe’s commitment to public health extended beyond hospital settings, as evidenced by his pivotal role as a Project Manager during the height of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. His strategic acumen and extensive experience facilitated Botswana’s emergence as a leader in HIV/AIDS initiatives in Africa. Under his leadership, campaigns and training programs, including those focusing on anti-retroviral treatment adherence, condom usage awareness, and prevention of mother-to-child transmission, significantly contributed to the country’s success in combating the epidemic.

Transitioning into politics in his mid-thirties, Lelatisitswe became the youngest legislature in the Botswana parliament at the time. Drawing from his background in healthcare, he actively participated in policy development, particularly in shaping crucial policies such as the HIV/AIDS Policy of 2015 and the National Health Policy. His recent initiatives include the introduction of policies on data management, environmental health, and rehabilitation services, reflecting his evolving focus on holistic public health and societal well-being. As a respected figure in both the healthcare and political spheres, Honourable Sethomo Lelatisitswe continues to leave an indelible mark on Botswana’s healthcare landscape through his dedication to service and policy innovation.
