Voice of Change
Background
Renata Furst is a financial crime professional at LSEG. Her work focuses on strengthening financial crime frameworks while advocating for more ethical, inclusive, and human-centered approaches to risk and compliance.
What makes Renata’s voice particularly powerful is the personal dimension she brings to her work. As a survivor of child identity theft, she experienced firsthand the long-term impact of weaknesses within financial systems an experience that continues to inform her perspective and purpose.
Her story is featured in the documentary One in Fifty, produced by LSEG Risk Intelligence, which follows her journey after her identity was stolen at the age of six and used to accumulate significant fraudulent debt. The film highlights both the human impact of financial crime and the systemic gaps that allow it to persist.
A Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Renata combines technical expertise with a strong passion for advocacy, storytelling, and mentorship. She brings a thoughtful and authentic perspective to conversations around resilience, career growth, and the power of lived experience to drive meaningful change.
Beyond her corporate role, Renata has also contributed to community initiatives in South Africa, including leading a successful fundraising campaign for a children’s safe home in Khayelitsha and mentoring young people transitioning to independence.
