Phophi Modiba (Ramakuwela) is a Chartered Accountant and MBA graduate currently serving as the Chief Risk Officer at BMW Group Financial Services South Africa, where she is also a member of the company’s executive committee. With over 18 years of corporate experience, she previously worked at KPMG and held senior finance roles at BMW before being appointed CRO in 2024.
Her leadership has earned international recognition through her selection for the International Women Rising Programme, an initiative that connected women leaders globally and broadened her perspectives on women’s leadership and empowerment.
Passionate about equity and inclusion, Phophi chairs the Employment Equity Committee, driving meaningful transformation within her organization. Beyond her corporate career, she is deeply committed to mentorship and community development. She actively mentors young professionals and students, empowers women through Lean In Circles, and holds leadership roles within her church, where she has served as Treasurer of the Young Adult League and as an FPC Committee member.
Her personal journey, from a rural upbringing with limited resources to becoming a corporate executive, embodies resilience, dedication, and a spirit of service. A devoted wife and mother of two, Phophi continues to inspire others through her leadership, advocacy for education, and commitment to creating opportunities for others.
